On weekends, famous stalls often have 20–40 minute lines, which is especially tough for travelers with kids or a tight schedule. Ordering on site lets you see the actual food and add items spontaneously; pre-selecting online lets you order ahead and set a pickup time, so you spend less time standing in the crowd.

On-site ordering vs. pre-selecting online

Ordering online doesn’t mean “delivery to your door”—most orders are still self-pickup at a designated night market stall, so confirm the pickup location and stall number.

• On site: great for browsing and comparing stalls, or changing your mind on the spot
• Online: great when you already know what you want and want to avoid the peak
• Some stalls offer both; even after ordering online, you still pick up at that stall

During peak hours, order 15 minutes ahead; if the stall supports notes, you can request less spicy, no cilantro, and so on.

• Choose items, quantity, and a pickup time slot
• After ordering, go to the stall at the notified time and give your order number
• Verify your items on site and leave

When is on-site still the better choice?

For your first visit, when you want to decide based on how the food looks on site, or when a stall doesn’t support online ordering yet, lining up on site is still recommended.
